We use the comparative when we want to compare people or things.
You are taller than me. Your hair is longer than my hair. Alice is more beautiful than Jane. Tom is less careful than Robert.
You don't need to use "than" if the reference is clear.
- Who is taller, Ann or Sally? - Sally is taller.
- Which dress is more expensive? - The blue one is more expensive.
You can also make questions and negative sentences with comparatives.
You are taller than me. Are you taller than me?. You aren't taller than me. Bob is more ambitious than Tom. Bob isn't more ambitious than Tom. Is Bob more ambitious than Tom?
